Makkah : Following the official statements issued by the Australian government announcing the killing of sixteen people and the injury of others in Sydney as a result of a terrorist attack that occurred during a Jewish community gathering for a religious occasion, the Muslim World League (MWL) reiterates its strong condemnation of this act, which unjustly targeted innocent people. The MWL affirms that the perpetrators represent only themselves and in no way reflect the true nature of Islam, which protects innocent lives and surrounds them with a robust legal framework.

In a statement issued by the MWL General Secretariat, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, praised the heroic act of the Muslim man, Ahmed Al-Ahmed, who managed to stop the perpetrator and prevent him from continuing his crime. Al-Ahmed risked his own life to protect innocent people and halt the bloodshed, a stance that embodies the noble values of Islam and the conduct of its followers.

His Excellency emphasized that the killing or targeting of innocent people, whether for religious, ethnic, or other reasons and under any pretext, is a grave crime that Islam has completely forbidden, warning of its severe consequences and the stringent punishments prescribed for it. He offered his condolences to the families of the victims and wished a swift recovery to the injured.
